This August, the 1st annual HIGHlarious Comedy Festival celebrates comedy and cannabis through various marijuana themed comedy shows. From August 14-16, 2015, over 25 comedians from around the country will gather in Seattle’s Lower Queen Anne neighborhood to engage audiences (21+) with premium entertainment at affordable prices. Currently they are focusing on a Crowdfunding effort, which you can find out more about here:

All shows will take place at the Center House, compliments of Theater Puget Sound, located in Seattle Center: 305 Harrison St, Seattle, WA 98109.

Thus far, announced performers include Northwest Comedy favorites James Heneghen (Modern Comedy), Ngaio Bealum (Getting Doug with High) and Podaholics very own Tyler Smith! Addtional comedians will be announced in May.

Friday August 14

6:00pm | Lift Off

This show will begin every night of shows (except Sunday) by showcasing the talent involved in the festival, featuring 9 comedians each performing 5 minutes of original comedy.

7:00pm | Tyler Smith Presents…

Hosted by celebrated local pot comic Tyler Smith, this showcase will feature 5 comedians from across the country doing longer 8 minute sets of original comedy.

8:00pm | Mary Jane

Celebrating all of the talented women involved in The HIGHlarious Comedy Festival, Mary Jane seeks to add a progressive line up and prove that the question “are women funny?” is not only outdated but irrelevant as well.

9:00pm | Permanent Comedy

Hosted by Portland’s Todd Armstrong, this comedy shows aims to mix his love of tattoos with his passion for comedy. This one of a kind show will feature one comedian performing before getting a tattoo by a local artist as well as becoming a showcase for comedy and storytelling and is regularly featured at Portland’s Helium Comedy Club.

10:00pm | Bong Water

Bong Water aims to add hard-r adult entertainment to the festival with a showcase for the dirty, the offensive and the hilarious featuring 6 comedians performing 7 minutes of their original, subversive style.

Saturday August 15

6:00pm | Lift Off

This show will begin every night of shows by showcasing the talent involved in the festival, featuring 9 comedians each performing 5 minutes of original comedy.

7:00pm | LGBTHC

Continuing the precedent set by Mary Jane, LGBTHC aims to showcase national and local talent who identify as a member of the LGBTQA community and to present a safe space for them to openly and freely communicate their unique perspectives and very funny material to a targeted audience of peers and allies.

8:00pm | Minority Retort

Already a critically acclaimed hit in Portland, Minority Retort is a showcase featuring minority identifying comedians who will entertain crowds with their irreverent and talented acts featuring 9 comedians performing 5 minutes of comedy. Hosted by Rochester, NY native and Portland resident, Jeremy Eli.

9:00pm | Ngiao Bealum featuring Heneghen

A staple in the pot comedy community, Ngiao Bealum brings a wealth of knowledge, talent and laughs to the stage and a featuring act by Heneghen, a renowned and loved Seattle comedian this is for the seasoned and novice smokers to see two amazing comedy legends perform and share the stage together.

10:00pm | Cross-Faded

Taking it’s cue from local shows like Under The Influence (Tacoma Comedy Club) and The Gateway Show (Punchline Fridays at Jai Thai on Broadway) this monitored and secure environment will give 4 comedians a chance to perform a 5 minute sober set before leaving the stage and getting cross-faded (the act of both drinking and smoking marijuana) where they will come back and perform in their newly inebriated state to the delight of audiences.

Sunday August 16

6:00pm | Piggy Back

This acclaimed show features 4 comedians performing their unique brand of comedy with a team of improvisers creating unique stories based off of their acts. A comedian with perform 5 minutes of their act and after performing the improvisers will come out and do their best to create a scene and situation that references the jokes that were just told with call backs to other comedians and performances during the show.

This show will begin every night of shows by showcasing the talent involved in the festival, featuring 9 comedians each performing 5 minutes of original comedy.

8:00pm | TBD

9:00pm | Dunzo Show (Free)

Half open-mic and half showcase, this show will feature some of the best comedians in the festival as well as local talent providing quality entertainment and laughs to close out the first HIGHlarious Comedy Festival.


Started as a way to finally bring a stand-up comedy festival to Seattle, with over 400 submissions from around the world 25 comedians will be selected who embody the spirit of The HIGHlarious Comedy Festival’s fun and inclusionary nature. This event acts as a springboard for things to come and bring attention to Seattle as a first-class comedy city. With 5 local comedy clubs, shows every night of the week and an abundance of comedic talent, The HIGHlarious Comedy Festival aims to begin a revolution in comedy that will bring us back to the map of the comedy elite.

The HIGHlarious Comedy Festival Creator and Director is Patrick Higgins.


Patrick Higgins is an American comedian who has performed across the country. He has consistently showcased for the Seattle International Comedy Competition (2013 and 2014), won The Tri-City Joke Off at Jokers in Richland (2013), Game of Jokes competition at Parlor Live (2014) and has produced sold out shows with OKSTUPID, a live comedy show about online dating. Hailing from Buffalo, NY he has had the opportunity to open for such acts as Deon Cole (writer for Conan), Dov Davidoff  (Chelsea Lately) and has been told “I liked your set, it was good” by renowned and celebrated comedian Louis CK.
