Amy Schumer Named 2014 Variety Breakthrough Comedy Winner
Amy Schumer has had a hell of a year.
Sure, she’s known for her appearance on the Roast of Charlie Sheen and Roseanne, but 2013 saw the New York-based comedian become a house-hold name with her Comedy Central show, ‘Inside Amy Schumer’, and the release of her popular 2012 comedy special, ‘Mostly Sex Stuff’, on video; The second-highest rated special on Comedy Central for 2012.
And, it looks like 2014 is going to get even better.
The venerable entertainment trade, Variety, has named Schumer their Breakthrough Comedy Winner for 2014, which will be presented to her, January 9th, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Along with her new found title, the 32 year-old comedian will also be kicking off the second season of her hit ‘Inside Amy Schumer’, this April, with appearances by Paul Giamatti, Zach Braff, Parker Posey, Colin Quinn, and Janeane Garofalo.
Not to mention she will be starring in her first film, ‘Train Wreck’, in which she wrote the script, and will be produced and directed by Judd Apatow.
