Writer, director, and co-founder of the legendary comedy troupe Second City died Sunday, as reported by the Chicago Tribune. He was 90.

Along with partners Paul Sills and Howard Alk, Sahlins created one of the biggest comedy powerhouses in the industry. As the only real business man of the group, Sahlins turned Second City into a profitable company before selling it to current owner Andrew Alexander in 1984.

Second City began in a converted Chinese laundry in Chicago’s Old Town in 1959 and since then has turned out an outrageous amount of talent.

Some alumni from Second City: Steve Carrel, Tina Fey, Halle Barry, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Bonnie Hunt, Jon Favreau, Steven Colbert, and a whole lot more.

RIP Bernie Sahlins.
